The Prophet’s birthday, or the birth of the Messenger, is an annual commemoration on the birth day of the Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal, as Muslims celebrate it every year in some Islamic countries, not as a feast or worship, but as a joy at the birth of the Messenger of God, Muhammad bin Abdullah. Where the popular celebrations begin from the beginning of the month of Rabi` al-Awwal to its end, by setting up councils in which poems praising the Prophet are sung, lessons from his life, and mention of his merits, and in which food and sweets are served, such as the sweetness of the Mawlid.
